What To Expect:

Born in Flint, Michigan and groomed by Alabama, Virginia and New York, Will’s keen ability to extract accurate recollection of his experiences or his thoughts on said experience is profound. Will exploits symbols, popular culture, and the likeness of figures throughout humanity, to stage acts. Acts that aren’t inherently fact nor fiction–though rather a concentrated collection of context to be used as a lense as which to add atop what you deem as fact or fiction.

During the conversation, we will discuss Porter’s approach in his work and the context of his art which prompts thought and discussion on social and or political issues.

In Episode 5, we continue discourse centered around “A Seat At The Table Of White Wealth” (2018)

Recap from previous episodes:

Keywords from Episode 4 (Feb 22nd, 2024):
agitprop, power dynamics, finances, representation, classism, capitalism, privilege, financial access, tension, history, context

In Episode Four of Palette-Able Dialogues (Feb 22nd, 2024) one of the main points discussed was tension. In agitprop (agitation +propaganda) a point of tension on the canvas is vital in setting up a resolve/solution.

Emphasis was placed on the color red, on the dialogue transpiring between the presidents and the body language of all persons involved.

This piece is very dense with context and symbols and for that reason makes it a perfect piece to span across 2 or 3 episodes.

Please help make the next episodes a success. Let the conversation sparked, be a catalyst for continued reflection, dialogue, and meaningful action.

Together, let us strive for a world where art continues to be a beacon of change and a powerful force in dismantling systemic racism.
